I Made The Decision To Buy This Game OVER Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Focus more on the combat and I’d buy that for a dollar!! The combat is the high point which breaks up long stretches of monotony. If they release an arena mode or allow you to play through timed combat stages, there would be some replayability but, for now, I don’t foresee myself starting a new game. I enjoyed most of my time playing through R:RC but was also glad when it was over, as I was just starting to get bored. Lastly, it’s crazy that saves are strictly based on checkpoints, with no option to save half way between checkpoints. Movement in combat often feels clumsy but, then again, you are a giant robot-man so I suppose the feeling of lumbering stiffness was intentional. Sure, the PCB mods give you an edge but a bit more thought and refinement should have gone into the mechanic of collecting dozens of upgrade circuits from OCP containers, most of which you never need. Some of the mechanics are pointless or half-baked, such as night vision or the upgrade system for Murphy’s iconic sidearm, the Auto-9. The game attempts to have a “detective” or “cop-on-the-beat” portion but it’s really just about following the navigation pointers to each objective and clicking thru the text. But the game also has MAJOR flaws that keep it from being a truly great game. Mainly, as an on-rails shooter, this is a really fun game that shouldn’t be missed, especially if you’re a fan of Robocop. The music, sound design, controls and graphics are great. The narrative allows the player to affect certain outcomes, which is gratifying and immersive. The voice acting, while silly and cliche, is fun and evokes nostalgia from the classic movies. The scanning and focus mechanics make you feel like a killing machine. The variety of firearms Robocop can wield combined with the ability to level up / acquire new combat skills keeps the gunplay feeling fresh with a sense of progression.
